Woodlands and Hill Brow staff members help to raise £5000 for our charity “Families Supporting Care” by completing their THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE
Over the weekend of the 28th March staff members, Ernie Field, Len Price and Elizabeth Butt with her sister Linda completed their own Three Peaks Challenge. This entailed climbing to the summit of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowden. The three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales.
Climbing one mountain per day they encountered snow, rain, freezing fog and 60 mph winds. They were helped by 60 year old walking sticks lent by Harold Smith, one of our residents at Woodlands which he used to help him climb Ben Nevis 60 years ago! Both Harold’s walking sticks and our staff members all came back in one piece all having found Harold’s walking sticks tremendously helpful!
They worked very hard to raise £2500 in sponsorship which was then doubled by Alison Lee and her family. The £5000 raised is going to the “Families Supporting Care” charity which offers financial support to the elderly who need care and support particularly those suffering from Dementia.
Throughout the year we hold events to raise money to help support the elderly, we have regular Quiz’s, Summer Garden Parties and Talent Shows. In addition our staff help to raise funds through sponsored runs, cycles and many other events. We would like to thanks everyone who has helped to support this charity which helps the elderly.
