The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness and a very busy one for the residents at Hill House. These are the highlights of the month.
In the morning of Friday 5th October we made a return trip to the Badshot Lea garden centre to see the fish and have tea and cakes
In the afternoon of Friday 5th October some residents from Hillbrow and Woodlands joined us for a sing song with Mike Barley. We had a wonderful time with singing and dancing to all the familiar songs
On Wednesday 10th October six residents embarked on the annual trip to the seaside at Southsea. This was a wonderful day with absolutely amazing weather for October. The skies were cloudless and the temperature was up to 22 degrees. There was a gentle, warm breeze and the sea was so blue.
We went to a wonderful restaurant on the pier for a fish and chip lunch with a very rich chocolate pudding, before we took a walk along the esplanade where we met triplets in a buggy and two very large sloppy Afghan hounds. We were all a bit reluctant to return to the home after such a lovely day.
On Friday 12th October some residents were taken to the Bright Horizons Children’s nursery in Church Crookham to meet the children at play.
In the afternoon on Friday 12th October Terry Owens came to sing for us and we enjoyed a wonderful sing-a-long.
On Tuesday 16th October at 6:30 in the evening we had a visit from the Crondall Cub Group to play games with the residents and their carers/helpers. We first played the games the cubs had brought, ranging from chess to special card games which the residents picked up quite quickly.
After a break for cakes and drinks of squash we went on for the residents to show the cubs how to play dominoes which is the game of the moment at Hill House.
On Thursday 18th October nine brave souls turned out for a sponsored walk around Church Crookham and Crondall. The residents gathered to cheer them home. Congratulations go to the walkers who managed to raise an incredible £2,400 in sponsorship for the Families Supporting Care charity.
In the afternoon of Thursday 18th October Yuliette, her friend Phil and Grace headed a sing song for us. It was a lovely afternoon and with wonderful guitar playing and dancing.
On Friday 19th October we were treated to a visit from the Jonti duo who always give us such a wonderful show. As well as the Hill House residents and day care attendees the main lounge was packed with residents from Woodlands, Farnham Mill and Hillbrow as usual. This has become our favourite singing group and we hope to see them many times again.
On Friday 26th October after our usual morning visit to the pub we celebrated Halloween earlier than usual in the afternoon. We had fun with apple bobbing and handing out sweets to children. The lounge was adorned with spooky decorations.
Finally in the evening of Tuesday 30th October, Hill House hosted the quarterly quiz night. It was a good fun night as usual and we raised £430 for our charity, Families Supporting Care.
