Obviously, we needed to make changes to last week’s activities programme due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Our 3 lovely and talented activities coordinators worked really hard to organise a fun and varied week of activities at Hill House for all of our residents.

As per our normal routine, every morning we have movement class’s. This week we have had armchair aerobics, music and movement, balloon bounce, skittles, parachute and ball games. In the afternoons we continued to run our Arts and Crafts and Cookery Clubs. This week’s themes have been St Patricks day and we had our preparations for Mother’s Day on Sunday and of course we have continued with our organised quizzes, dominoes, bingo and more throughout the week too.

On Monday 16th with St Patricks day around the corner, residents got stuck into making fun St. Patricks Day Arts and Crafts. In this session we made pots of gold for the end of the rainbow.

On Tuesday, St Patricks day kicked off with Irish coffees. Our lovely Irish activities coordinator Annette, entertained us with traditional Irish stories and poems. She also cooked up a white pudding for everyone to try.

We had our St Patricks Day party in the afternoon, where we danced and sang along to Irish classics. We topped the day with a few more Irish coffee’s and cakes.

Balloon Bounce is a fun way to stay activities and everyone likes to get involved Wednesday morning we not only played balloon bounce but exercised with a giant yoga ball.

We love to share our family pictures with staff, it’s great to see how much they are growing up.

Our new treats trolley proved very popular on a Thursday. We visited everyone offering a fab selection from wine, cans of fizz, sweets and chocolates.

The activities team are keeping us all very busy with board games, puzzle and bingo.

Fridays Knit and a Natter Club is growing week by week, residents really have enjoyed teaching staff to knit. Together we are creating squares to make a blanket, which we will donate. A few of our very talented residents are working on patterns they have chosen.

Friday afternoon was full of fun as we really enjoyed our 50’s & 60’s themed Karaoke Party. We loved getting dressing up and singing songs with staff, it was fabulous to let our hair down.

On Saturday after our exercise class in the morning, in our Gardening Themed Club we made grass heads. These will be interesting to watch grow on the sunny windowsill over the coming weeks.

On Sunday we celebrated Mother’s Day in style with a traditional Afternoon Tea. A big Thank you to all the family member for the cards, gifts and flowers and to all the kitchen team, carers and activities for making it such a special day.
