December Activities at Hill House Nursing Home in Farnham
December was an incredibly busy and varied month of activities and social events. On the 2nd of December we had a trip out to our resident’s favourite pub the Twesledown for some pre-lunch drinks. Then on the 3rd the Fleet Rock Choir visited to perform a wonderful mix of songs, this was followed on the Friday 5th by the Ruskin duo, a lovely singing duo who sing a mixture of older popular songs which the residents love to sing along with. Over the weekend we were visited by Crondall Bell Ringers and Carol Singers.
In the 2nd week of December we again popped in for drinks at the Twesledown. On the 10th of December we held a special Christmas Church service for our residents and their families. We held one of our regular Quiz afternoons on the 11th, the theme being Christmas. Then on the Friday 12th we held a lovely Tea Dance, and afternoon Tea which everyone always enjoys. On Sunday 14th we held a song of praise and carol service with Christmas prayers led by a local church group which is a nice way to remind everyone Christmas is a family time.
Monday 15th saw our residents performing their favourite poems and carols, accompanied with mince pies and sherry. Tuesday saw the residents visiting badshot Lea Garden centre for a spot of Christmas shopping and a nice cup of tea. In the afternoon, our own Hill House resident’s choir sang carols along with crondall church choir. Wednesday evening on the 17th saw Christ Church Bell ringers visiting and ringing. Friday the 19th saw St Nicks School Orchestra visiting and performing the story of Christmas, their violin section was stunning and there were some lovely individual performances.
Our Residents Christmas Party was held on Monday 22nd this enabled residents to visit their families on Christmas day, Santa visited bringing gifts, and lunch was delicious with some lovely wine. After lunch our residents favourite performer visited professor Andrew Knights, it is a joy to see the enjoyment of our residents as he performs. On the 23rd staff and their children sang carols for our residents and for those residents who liked it quieter we did a giant Christmas crossword.
Christmas Eve saw residents doing arts & crafts and making hats to wear at our Christmas lunch and helping to decorate the table, which looked fabulous! Hill House would like to take this opportunity to thank all the different visitors, staff and performers who came into the home and entertained our residents. It is very much appreciated and brings joy and happiness to our residents.
