Junes Activities at Hill House Nursing Home in Farnham Surrey

June was a fantastically busy month at Hill House in Farnham; here are just some of the highlights;

The first weeks of June we remembered and celebrated D Day, starting on the 2nd June with a D Day reminisce where our residents shared memories and their experiences of D Day.

On 4th June we had an afternoon of music for the brain with Barbara Rayner.  Our residents enjoyed 3 hours of music and sing-alongs, accompanied by a lovely afternoon tea.

On 6th June we celebrated D Day by decorating the home and had an indoor street Party lunch, Followed by an afternoon of singing old favourites by a wonderful singer Paula Kitching, who dressed up brilliantly for the occasion. We finished the celebration with a lovely afternoon tea.

On the 14th June we held our annual Garden Party at Hill Brow, this year we raised over £3200 for our charity Families supporting care. Over 150 guests and residents attended and enjoyed the event which featured a variety of stalls and lovely refreshments and some wonderful singing, all organised by our staff.

On 18th June we celebrated Father’s Day with our Male residents who choose a John Wayne film to watch on the big screen, whilst being spoilt with chocolate, sweets and popcorn. Other residents enjoyed playing board games and having a quiet drink.

The 20th June saw our annual Staff Talent Show for our residents. This year we had six teams from our 3 homes competing to put on their Shakespear themed performances for our residents. This year’s winners were our catering and household staff who performed a fantastically funny musical take of Shakespeare.

The 23rd June saw the start of Wimbledon which a number of our residents enjoyed watching on the Big Screen accompanied by Strawberries & Cream every afternoon.

On 30th June we visited Robert Mays School for a lovely Tea Dance, with pupils playing in the band and providing a great afternoon tea.

As well as all the activities we managed a trip out to the Tweesledown pub for lunch and on another day a trip to Redfield’s Garden Centre for a coffee morning.
