Monday morning, we started Mother’s Day week off in style as we made lavender bags to hang in our rooms. Some of us made them to give to our children and wives when they visit this week as a gift.

Garden view wing created their lavender bags after lunch the smell brought back some lovely memories of visiting and walking through lavender fields. Else where in the home we completed jigsaw puzzles.

Tuesday morning, we were very excited to welcome Hudson in for a pet therapy session, here at Hill House staff are encouraged to bring in their well-behaved pets to visit us as often as possible. We spent the morning enjoying cuddles and sharing treats for tricks, he is such a lovely boy who loves spending time in the sunshine just like us on such beautiful spring days.

This week our fairy godmothers sprinkled their magic and granted another wish. Taking a dog for a walk was all I wished for and I was truly spoilt when Hudson came to visit me, as soon as I saw him my face lit up and I enjoyed all the cuddles and kisses he had to offer, before putting him on his lead and I walked him around the gardens and he didn’t pull once even when he saw a squirrel, I couldn’t stop smiling all day after our walks around the garden.

Alliteratively others spent the morning, added memories to their scrapbooks, playing skittles and shove a penny game.

Tuesday afternoon our amazing activities team created a chocolate fondue cart filling the home with the smell of chocolatey goodness as it went around the home offering treats to everyone. The cart is part of our Mother’s Day week celebrations, with melted chocolate and a large selection of yummy treats ready for us to dip, the temptation was too much and we had a lovely afternoon dipping fruits and marshmallows in to gooey melted chocolate.

Wednesday morning our indoor visits continued here at Hill house, we loved welcoming families back and catching up after so long.

We spent the morning reminiscing and sharing stories of our families and mothers. Looking through photographs and talking about our childhoods.

In our garden view wing, we love nothing more than to sing and dance, we use music as a big part of staying fit and active. Research has found that dancing improves strength and muscle function in older adults, as well as increasing balance and flexibility, leading to better stability and fewer injuries.

Wednesday afternoon we engaged in a daily exercise using a giant beach ball, the lounge was filled with laughter as the ball bounced off in the opposite direction. We started to create centre pieces for our upcoming Mother’s Day celebrations.

Thursday was a day of relaxation as we visited the hairdressers enjoyed manicures and spent time outside in the gardens taking walks. We spent time engaged in hobbies we love like painting and watering the gardens.

Friday morning, we crafted stunning floral displays to make centre piece for Mother’s Day tables. any flower we had left we displayed in vases and put around the home.

The afternoon we listened to staff play guitar and we sung songs together.

Saturday morning, we continued to make Mother’s Day decoration and helped blow up balloons with balloon pumps (a mini workout in itself).

Others engaged in therapeutic painting and reading the daily newspapers and listening to music through our Alexa. We enjoy asking Alexa to tell us a joke and every morning we ask for a fact of the day, this sparks a lot of conversation.

Saturday afternoon our cooking club met to make cupcake decorations for our afternoon tea trolly. Our weekend movie this week was south pacific and we tucked into the cupcakes and ice-creams while enjoying the film and singing along.

Saturday evening, Nova the newest member to the extended activities pet family came in to visit us here at hill house, for an evening pet therapy session. She is only a puppy and was so pleased to see us as much as we were her.

Sunday morning when we came down to the lounge areas of the home had been loving decorated with balloons banners, flowers and an array of gifts adorned a cart, all for Mother’s Day we felt so special. we sat down for our morning tea and were passed out gifts from our loved one, we had many visits booked in throughout the day and we loved seeing our families on such a special day, we were truly spoilt by everyone.

Earlier in the week we all received a personal invitation for Mother’s Day afternoon tea, so we spent the morning getting pampered and dressed up ready. As well as visits we spent the morning chatting with family om skype calls and group zoom calls, there was so much love in the air for our mothers and fathers throughout the day.

Our activities team and kitchen went all out this mother day as they treated us to a luxurious afternoon tea fit for the queen. The tables were laid with floral centre runners and our flower arrangement and decorations were on pride display. We were served finger sandwiches and tiered cake stands in the centre of the tables had freshly baked scones, cakes, quiches and cupcakes, we were spoilt for choice as we sat with friends chatting and sipping on tea, wine or juices of our choice.

Our amazing kitchen and activities team at Hill House went above and beyond this Mother’s Day, putting together Mother’s Day treat boxes for all of Hill House and Hill Brow’s visitors, putting a big smile on everyone’s face and spreading good cheer. A very Happy Mother’s Day to you all.

“thank you to everyone at Hill House for the lovely treats box you gave us when we came to visit yesterday. They were really lovely”

“I just want to say the activities team are amazing, the cake boxes were awesome and massively appreciated from residents and relatives alike, it was a lot of fun”

After a relaxing but filling afternoon tea, we settled down to songs of praise Mother’s Day special followed by 9 to 5 the musical. We spent the afternoon engaged in a mixture of relaxing and therapeutic activities.
