This week residents at Hill House have had a week filled with fairy tale fun. Each day we have been looking at and enjoying activities based on a different fairy tale. There was a 3 little pigs themed pig racing, Alice in wonderland croquet, the amazing Hedda came to sing for us dressed as Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel gingerbread decorating in this week’s cooking club.

Monday morning, we started the week with some puppet making. We discussed and reminisced about watching punch and Judy shows at the beach and the string puppet Pinocchio.

After a morning making the puppets, we then had great fun in the afternoon making up puppet shows and getting our puppets to tell stories.

Others enjoyed some time one to one with staff playing a game of puppet picture pairs.

On the garden View lounge one of our lovely gentlemen celebrated his birthday with everyone singing him happy birthday and cake to share made by our talented chef.

Tuesday morning, we got busy making fascinators ready for our Cinderella ball with live singer in the afternoon, as well as helping to cut out the Cinderella bunting and decorations ready to hang.

Therapeutic colouring is always a relaxing way to spend the morning.

On Tuesday afternoon we all got together for our Cinderella inspired ball with live singer Hedda looking amazing dressed as Cinderella. The lounge was filled with singing, clapping and lots of laughter.

Some of us got up to dance along to the music. Dancing is a good form of exercise for the elderly without feeling that they are exercising and helps to keep us active and mobile.

Posing for a photo with Cinderella –

Wednesday was Hansel and Gretel day and in the morning we all got together for an enchanted forest floor game, throwing the dice to move along the path through the forest, answering quiz questions along the way and hoping to avoid the forfeit squares.

Garden Views cooking club spent the morning decorating Hansel and Gretel gingerbread.

In the afternoon the cooking club group got together in the main lounge making more of the Hansel and Gretel inspired gingerbread for everyone to enjoy with their afternoon tea.

Thursday our hairdresser Teressa pampered us.

Alice in wonderland inspired croquet game was played in all lounges on Thursday morning –

Thursday afternoon the Hill House Flower arrangers were busy sorting and arranging the flowers to brighten our home with.

Friday Morning, we had a Fairy Tale quiz which got us reminiscing about the books we had read and films we had watch and we tried to see how many different fairy tales we could name.

Three little pigs themed pig racing in the afternoon, guessing which pig would win, cheering them on and receiving a prize when our pig came in first.

A Disney jigsaw to keep the brain active.

Saturday was snow white and the seven dwarves’ day with a game of seven dwarfs skittles in the morning.

Then a weekend movie in the afternoon –
