Bonjour and welcome to all things French this week at Hill House. In Celebration of the French Bastille Day residents have been exploring the French culture from armchair travel to France, a Parisian tea party while Louis played the Piano to quizzes and learning more about France from work experience student Alec who had once lived in France.
Monday morning the sun was shining and we enjoyed getting out in the garden to read the paper, and have a go at doing some embroidery, this sparked memories of embroidering bookmarks as children.
On Garden View residents enjoyed a relaxing Monday morning with therapeutic colouring and watercolour painting
A French picture quiz got our brains going in the afternoon and carer Daniel sang some French songs for us accompanied by his guitar.
We then went out to watch the planes practicing for Farnborough Air show next week
Sunshine, refreshing drinks, good company and a lively sing a long made an enjoyable Monday afternoon in the garden view garden
On Tuesday morning we had a go with the OMI interactive projector. Sensory products such as this provide meaningful activities and encourage movement, active participation and shared enjoyment.
Others enjoyed a group game of skittles
Our Furry friends are always popular when they visit and it was lovely being able to take Pebbles out for a walk around the garden
Garden view played the traditional French game of Boules which is also sometimes known as Petanque. In French, the word “boule” means “ball” and in France people often refer to the game simply as boules
Tuesday afternoon we all jetted off to France with our armchair travel to France experience.
Tickets and passports ready
Traditional French croissants, brioche and French fancies were served along with a selection of French wines or soft drinks

After everyone had finished eating it was time for some live entertainment from the talented Natasha
A quiet Thursday morning saw residents from all lounges enjoying some pampering from our hairdresser Teressa, flower arranging at the weekly flower arranging group and relaxing therapeutic colouring.
In the afternoon we welcomed Louis who came to play piano for us while we enjoyed a Parisian inspired tea party with a selection of French pastries and treats, followed by a sing a long
Friday morning, we played French Boules in the main lounge
Friday afternoon we got together for a hands-on live cooking demo, learning about, making, cooking and then eating delicious French crepes
In the Garden View Lounge, it was time to get stuck into a jigsaw puzzle and brain training puzzles
Saturday, we did some watercolour painting, enjoyed a little pet therapy as well as spending time listening to music and having fun dancing with staff
A relaxing Sunday with the Sunday papers while others watched the church service. Some, one to one activity with staff making bead jewellery or spending time in the garden and enjoying a cuddle with one of the sensory cats
