Last week Hill House focused on mental wellbeing with a whole heap of fun on the side. From a 1950’s Milkshake cart to playing the piano for the first time in years there was lots of excitement and fun across the home.

We started the week taking down all the Christmas decorations across the home, with lots of boxes to be filled with baubles, trees, and knick-knacks most of us chose to watch on as the activities team worked tirelessly, we sipped hot drinks sung carols and lent a helping hand where we could.

We loved playing a group game of 1950’s inspired skittles, with 1950’s music playing throughout we tapped our feet along to the music.

That afternoon, our rock and rollers whizzed around the home offering hydration drinks. Our highly nutritious milk shakes offer hydration and calories as well as being fun.

A massive Thank you to this lovely lady for keeping us entertained with her beautiful piano playing on Wednesday, she plays with such grace, and we love singing along to the hymns.

Thursday across the home we enjoyed a wide variety of wellbeing activities, we played dominoes, took on 1950’s themed brain training word games and read the daily sparkle newsletter.

We looked through photos of family and friends as well as beloved pets, sharing stories about our past.

Our weekly flower delivery, allowed us to create stunning floral arrangements that afternoon.

Friday our gardenview lounges were treated to the amazing keyboard sing along by carer Daniel. Singing provides many benefits for the elderly. Ongoing research has shown that regular singing can lift your spirits, increase your immunity, and provide a workout for your brain and your lungs.

Our in-training Pet Therapy session that afternoon welcoming our furry friend Tinkerbell. She made herself at home with everyone. Her training is going well, and she settled and enjoyed all the fuss we were offering.

We took on an Elvis quiz and played Bananagram a great word game that promotes brain health.

Boosting mental health and mood during our arts and craft session as well as playing piano for the home.
Aside from enhanced motor skills and coordination, there is also a sense of enjoyment from our residents painting with water colours.
