With the first day of spring upon us residents spent the week preparing for the warmer weather, making bee and butterfly feeders, decorating plant pots and taking part in some spring and bird themed picture quizzes.

A morning of spring cleaning and reminiscing was rewarded with a lovely spa and pamper afternoon. On Thursday evening residents joined families and friends for our quarterly quiz night and raffle, raising money for the families supporting care charity. Thank you to all who joined us, an amazing £760 was raised.

Monday morning in the day lounge residents started the week with a picture quiz, trying to name a variety birds. We listened to the different sounds of bird song, reminiscing about the birds that had visited our gardens and how lovely it is to see the birds back in the gardens as the weather gets warmer.

In the garden view lounges it was time for some target practice, throwing beanbags onto bright sunflower targets.

In the afternoon the home was filled with music. Our garden view lounges had their weekly visit from Laura our music therapist providing stimulating and sensory experiences with one-to-one and small group music sessions.

In the day lounge residents enjoyed an afternoon tea, chatting and socializing with a hot drink, delicious cake and the gentle sound of piano playing in the background from pianist Rowena.

Tuesday morning saw all the lounges joining in cooking club.  The residents in Garden View were preparing jam tarts.

Rolling the pastry out, cutting into rounds and filling with jam.

While over in the day lounge, the residents cooking club chose to make traditional cupcakes.

Once the cakes were done it was time to sneak a lick of the bowl.

Tuesday afternoon some residents went to Farnham Mill for our dementia choir practice.

Residents in the day lounge played hangman, working as a group to find the spring themed words.

Then helped to arrange the flowers kindly donated to us by Sainsburys to brighten the lounges and our rooms.

It was the residents on garden views turn to try and name the birds and reminisce about bird watching.

Wednesday morning, in garden view lounges we had arts and crafts, decorating plant pots, painting bee and butterfly feeders

Spring cleaning on Wednesday morning in the day lounge, working hard polishing the silver and brass, and sorting the socks into pairs while looking through some old household items and remembering how hard our household chores were before we had so many modern gadgets to help us.

After a morning of hard work it was time for some pampering with residents indulging in some beauty and relaxation treatments at the Hill House spa afternoon, with a wide range of treatments on offer, residents enjoyed relaxing with facemasks and cooling cucumber. Facials, manicures and hand massages were enjoyed by all who took part.

Followed by a fresh fruit platter and a glass of buck’s fizz.

Thursday morning the flower arranging club arranged the weekly delivery of fresh flowers.

Others visited our hairdresser.

Garden view we got our thinking caps on for some number brain training puzzles.

Thursday afternoon we all came together to listen to the singer, Rodney. The lounge was filled with the sounds of laughter, clapping and song as residents joined in.

An amazing evening was had by all on Thursday with families and friends joining us for the quarterly quiz and raffle night.  A fantastic £760 was raised for Families Supporting Care Charity.

A delicious buffet and drinks were served halfway through, prepared by our talented chefs and the evening finished with a raffle.

Friday morning residents enjoyed a game of scrabble.

In garden view residents spent the morning helping with daily living activities. These types of activities remind us of tasks we used to do. From changing babies’ nappies to rolling up balls of wool ready to knit.

In the day lounge residents made luxury soap bars by adding moisturisers, rose oils and lavender then using a silicone mould squeezed them into shape.

In the garden view lounge, it was time of some pampering and manicures.

Followed by a game of dominoes.

Tinkerbell our pet therapy dog is always a welcome visitor to the lounges as well as residents in their rooms.

On Saturday while some of us watched a weekend movie others enjoyed reading and doing crosswords.

One of the many birthdays we have celebrated at Hill House this week.

On Sunday we watched church services on tv and Ipads before relaxing with some therapeutic colouring and jigsaw puzzles.
