This week across Hill House residents have spent time exploring the culture and delights of our neighbour France, with cheese and wine tasting, brain training activities and a week of Wimbledon finals on the TV.

We started our day with a variety of fun word games, a group of us gathered for a game of scrabble. Others took on the brain training word game – Boggle.

That afternoon music therapy took place in our garden view lounges. This offers great one to one therapy as well as small group sessions.

Our day lounge explored the work of Claude Monet with another great paint and sip class, with Pimm’s rolling out for Wimbledon, we enjoyed a glass while painting our inspired pictures.

Others opted for a glass of Pimms while sitting back to watch the tennis on TV, we all agreed there isn’t a wrong way to enjoy a Pimms.

Tuesday morning, a group of us ventured out on a trip to the local garden centre, for a spot of shopping before stopping for a well-deserved hot drink and donut.

In the day lounge we spent the morning in a French Language and phrase class, this brought back fond memories of learning French and living in France ourselves lots of stories were shared in the group.

That afternoon, our French cheese and wine tasting afternoon tea was appreciated by many, “the taste of French cheese is like no other and paired with the perfect wine is a delight”.

Wednesday morning, our weekly flower arranging group gathered a day earlier than normal to arrange this week’s stunning flowers, bright, bold sunflowers adorned the vases.

That afternoon, our cooking club gathered in the day lounge to make quiches, following the recipe and working together we prepared quiches ready for the nights supper.

The French word for cake is “quiche,” which might have influenced the name. The dish as we know it today originated in the Lorraine region of France in the 1800s.

Thursday morning French patisserie tea was hosted, with a stunning selection of pastries and treats from France, served with morning tea it was a great social morning with many conversations.

That afternoon, Rodney came to sing for us, we danced and sung along to his rock and roll set. We were tremendously delighted when guest dancer Evie joined him on the dance floor, we couldn’t believe how sweet she was and how much she loved to dance, this brought us extra joy that afternoon.

Friday morning, floor boules is a traditional game in France, referred to as Jeu De Boules. We love this floor game, we get a good group of us together and it never fails to get us all laughing.

Our French picture eye spy game got our brains engaged first thing in the morning in our garden view lounge.

The afternoon we took part in a cook along with traditional French crepes, we started by  whisking up a fluffy batter mix.

Then watched on as they were cooked on the griddle in front of us, the smell wafted through the home and the sweet smell of Crepes and lemon got everyone very excited to try them.

Saturday morning, we got the Nintendo Wii out for another fabulous morning of digital tennis. We have found that Wii sport games help make exercising fun.

Others opted for a morning of completing jigsaw puzzles.

Sunday afternoon, we watched the Wimbledon tennis final on TV across the home, we also had our French treats cart rolling round the home.

Sunday, we spent time preparing for our new welcome board, cutting out our favourite photos from the month and displaying them proudly at the entrance of our home.

Others opted for some beauty treatments manicures and hand massages.
