It’s been a truly inspiring week as we dedicated ourselves to celebrating the incredible achievements of women in sports. With group quizzes, our very own annual sports day, and of course roaring for the Lionesses who won their semi final and played in the World Cup final against Spain.
Here’s to all the powerful women who continue to break barriers and inspire us to be our best selves!
On Monday morning, we got together to create table centrepieces with a circus theme, ready for our upcoming BIG Summer BBQ.
Others opted to start their day with the challenge of word games or a game of ping pong.
Table tennis has been an Olympic sport since 1988 in Seoul. The first gold medal was awarded to the female Chinese player Chen Jing.
Laura, our weekly music therapist, conducted both one-to-one and group sessions this afternoon.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed an incredible circus performance starring Tony, who is renowned for his talent in engaging everyone in the festivities.
It was an absolute pleasure to take part in the joyous singing and lively dancing. The atmosphere was simply electric, we couldn’t help but get swept up in the excitement.
On Wednesday, our families came to visit. We played games, spent time catching up with each other, and had a great time.
A delightful tea party was held to celebrate the birthday of a wonderful lady who enjoyed the company of her loved ones and a delicious birthday cake.
The England team competed against the host nation, Australia, in the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup. We all gathered in the TV lounge to watch the game.
Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of attending our weekly flower-arranging class with the talented and knowledgeable Louise. As usual, she provided us with invaluable tips and tricks on how to create beautiful floral arrangements.
We also took some time to reminisce about the local area and browse through old photographs.

Today marked our Annual Hill House Sports Day, coinciding with ladies in sport week. The event took place in the garden and featured an exciting old-fashioned obstacle race that contributed to the high-energy atmosphere. It was a great celebration of women in sports.
We play the fun family game “Hungry Hippos” with our residents and staff every year as part of our sports day. Everyone enjoys this crazy game where teams compete to have the highest number of balls on their side of the playing circle. To move the balls from the starting centre, we use buckets and bats.
On Friday morning, the day lounge hosted a sports picture quiz of sports women, followed by the popular game “Famous Faces.”. Maud Edith Eleanor Watson, MBE was a British tennis player and the first female Wimbledon champion in 1884.
In the afternoon, our women in sports tea party assembled to reflect on the sports we have participated in and the remarkable female athletes we have had the opportunity to meet or watch. Indulging in freshly made cakes and tea served in the finest China, added to a pleasurable experience.
On Saturday morning, we enjoyed a round of mini golf in our garden view lounge.
Engaging in word games and solving puzzle mazes can prove to be beneficial as they enhance our hand-eye coordination and stimulate our mental faculties.
A few of us enjoyed solving a crossword puzzle while sipping on tea and indulging in delicious cake.
On Sunday morning, we held a ‘Lionesses Brunch’ for all residents and families to celebrate and show our pride for the Lionesses. We came together to cheer on England’s top footballers as they played against Spain in the World Cup final.
Alongside the event, our mobile food cart offered brunch to those who weren’t watching the big screen. The interactive cart was a hit, and everyone had a great time.
