Hill House’s latest themed week has been all about Christmas, with a range of activities to get everyone in the festive spirit. From decorating trees to making wreaths, there’s been something for everyone to enjoy and get involved with. At Hill House, we believe in offering engaging and immersive activities that cater to all interests and abilities. Our themed weeks are designed to stimulate the mind, exercise the body, and foster new friendships and connections.
The start of the week was filled with festive cheer as our team of Elves worked their magic to bring the Christmas spirit to our home. With our annual Christmas tree social.
We spent the morning decorating over 14 trees with beautiful baubles and twinkling lights, spreading the joy of the season to every nook and cranny of our home. As we worked, we sang along to our favourite holiday tunes, making the experience even more merry and bright.
The garden view lounges were buzzing with activity on Tuesday morning as we kicked off the day with some fun floor bowls and balloon exercises. Afterward, we gathered for a cozy cup of tea before engaging in lively small group games of dominoes.
This week at the cooking club, we had a delightful time embellishing gingerbread men to hang on our Christmas trees. The practice of decorating Christmas trees has a rich historical background, influenced by different cultures that have added their own special touches to this joyful tradition. The inclusion of chocolates and gingerbread in tree decorations can be attributed to European customs, particularly places like Germany.
Our Tuesday afternoons are filled with energy as we participate in group physio sessions. After our individual sessions, we join for a small group session that promotes stretching and mobility.
The local Sainsburys store delivered their weekly donation of flowers, which we skilfully pruned and arranged into beautiful vases. The sweet fragrance of the fresh blooms wafted through the air, filling the room with a delightful aroma.
Our Wednesday morning was dedicated to mastering this craft, resulting in breathtaking wreaths that now adorn the lounge, spreading joy to all who lay eyes upon them.
On Wednesday, we embarked on a delightful bus journey that took us back to the Chalk in the Park Cafe. It’s a picturesque location, especially on a chilly winter morning, where we indulged in some warm coffee and enjoyed a wonderful reunion with our dear friends.
We had a blast with our Omi interactive table, playing a range of games. One of our favourites was the Singing in the Rain interactive screen. We enjoyed filling in the missing lyrics of the song while swiping away the raindrops that were projected onto the table.
With their shared special days, these two remarkable ladies revel in the unique and unforgettable celebrations meticulously planned for them, creating cherished memories that last a lifetime.
In our garden view lounge, we dedicated our Thursday morning to creating exquisite hand-painted tree ornaments.
This week, our flower arranging club met up, to beautifully arrange the flowers in vases. It was a delightful gathering where we not only created stunning floral arrangements but also had the opportunity to connect with friends. From the beginning till the end, we engaged in lively conversations and enjoyed each other’s company.
Hill House was buzzing with excitement as we commemorated St Andrews Day. We hosted an incredible Scottish bash, complete with a captivating live singer and plenty of dancing. And of course, we had the option to savour a glass of Whisky if it tickled our fancy.
The Worker Elves at Hill House have been involved in a covert operation that commenced on Friday morning. Witnessing everyone’s participation and enthusiasm towards the joyous holiday season has been delightful.
It was a joyous occasion as we gathered with our loved ones to celebrate the birthday of this lovely lady.
