Gather round for our Easter tale. Don’t worry, it has a hoppy ending.
Hill House had an amazing Easter week, filled with Easter bonnets and visits from the Easter bunny (who made two appearances). The residents enjoyed the company of their families and felt the love during the Easter weekend.

We kicked off our day with an exciting arts and crafts session where we created and embellished our Easter bonnets in preparation for the upcoming Easter bonnet parade later this week.

The morning gathering in our lounge brought together the gardening club, eager to rejuvenate the outdoor planters for the upcoming spring season. Alongside this, we took pleasure in the enchanting ritual of writing our deepest desires on seed crosses before tenderly placing them in pots.

Our afternoon was truly unforgettable as we immersed ourselves in the delightful Cadbury’s Chocolate Experience. The event began with a captivating exploration of the brand’s history, uncovering fascinating facts along the way. Following this was an engaging quiz to challenge our knowledge of Cadbury’s chocolate.

The cherry on top was indulging in the mouthwatering chocolate fountain, creating a sweet and memorable experience for everyone involved.

The morning of Wednesday kicked off with an exciting round of floor bowls, bringing joy to everyone involved. We enjoy the friendly competition and the exercise we get from playing this game.

With all the rain, the residents of Hill House were unable to fully appreciate the beautiful gardens of Farnham Mill. However, their warm hospitality made our short visit delightful. We spent some time on their veranda, admiring the view and spotting numerous ducks and geese happily frolicking in the rain.

We sought refuge indoors and were greeted with a comforting cup of tea and delicious homemade cakes. To our delight, we also discovered a charming petting zoo on their premises. We couldn’t resist cuddling with the adorable bunnies and the friendly wandering hen.

On Wednesday afternoon, we came together to join a delightful cooking club focused on making the classic Simnel cake, a cake synonymous with the Easter festivities. We diced, stirred, and kneaded the ingredients to create the batter, then flattened the marzipan and shaped the spheres in preparation for decorating after it had hardened.

This week, the Thursday flower arranging club was a tremendous hit as we came together to beautifully arrange our florists’ delivery, along with the generous contribution of flowers from our local Sainsbury’s.

We had a blast trying out different activities in our garden-view lounges, from playing word games to reciting Easter poetry, but the most exciting part of the day was our Easter fishing game where we competed to catch Easter eggs for points and prizes.

We decided to spice up our exercise routine on Good Friday by engaging in a thrilling game. Throughout the morning, our main goal was to achieve a remarkable score by skilfully tossing a bean bag onto the target eggs.

As we interacted with individuals during our person-centred room visits, we took the time to reflect on their past hobbies, cherished memories with family, and even shared some delightful Easter poetry and readings.

We spent the morning getting crafty, creating festive Easter decorations using eggs and putting up Easter paper chains in the living room. Spending Good Friday bonding with friends over crafts like gluing, shaping, cutting, and sticking is the ideal way to kick off the holiday weekend.

Some began their Good Friday morning by sampling Hot Cross Buns, delving into the origins of this traditional treat before discovering the wide array of flavours available today.

We indulged in a wide range of flavours, from the delightful combination of raspberry and white chocolate to the irresistible taste of Nutella. Our taste buds experienced a rollercoaster of sensations as we explored the numerous varieties available. While some flavours won our hearts, there were a few that we believed should never see the light of day again.

The Easter Bonnet Parade this year was an extraordinary celebration that united residents, staff, and relatives in a remarkable showcase of imagination and excitement. The bonnets were adorned with vibrant bows, ribbons, and adorable Easter chicks, creating a fierce competition for the judges.

Prizes were given for the top three places, along with a special award for the most innovative bonnet. We extend our gratitude to all the participants and the judges for their expertise. This event was a truly unforgettable triumph, brimming with happiness, laughter, and a strong sense of unity.

The manager of the home praised all for their beautiful Easter hats and distributed unique Easter gift boxes to each person.

The sun cast a warm glow as the Easter bunny scattered eggs throughout the garden of Hill House, where families and friends gathered to partake in the festive Easter egg hunt alongside us. The Easter bunny was on a mission to spread joy by hiding the Eggs throughout the garden he even hid a special GOLDEN EGG. Families and friends gathered, laughter filling the air as children, visitors and we searched for eggs. With a whistle, the Easter egg hunt began, turning the garden into a magical wonderland of hidden treasures and shared joy.

Witnessing everyone gather for the yearly Easter egg hunt was truly heartwarming, as we watched the children excitedly playing and running around, we couldn’t contain our eagerness to go outside and partake in the festivities.

The Easter egg hunt concluded with an exciting encounter with the Easter bunny, who eagerly awaited the children, residents, and guests to bring their discovered eggs and joyfully exchanged them for delicious chocolate treats.

After the Easter egg hunt, a scrumptious buffet was enjoyed by all, as laughter filled the lounge and guests cherished each other’s presence.

A sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the celebration, making it an unforgettable occasion.

As the afternoon progressed, the home was filled with an extravagant atmosphere of celebration. The air was alive with the joyful sounds of a couple marking their cherished wedding anniversary, and a lovely woman was surrounded by loved ones, basking in the affection on her special birthday.

The Easter feast spread covered the table throughout the entire Easter weekend as we enjoyed watching the famous boat race on TV in the afternoon, while some chose to spend time with family or engage in board games. It was a delightful Saturday afternoon during Easter.

The Sunday dementia service was filled with beautiful Easter hymns and beloved nostalgic songs that brought us all together on a bright Easter morning.

On Easter Sunday, our buffet table was filled with delicious treats and hot beverages for all our guests. It was heartwarming to have so many visitors in our home, spreading laughter and joy all around.

The Easter bunny made another appearance at Hill House this afternoon, bringing, laughter, smiles, and most importantly, Easter eggs to delighted residents. HAPPY EASTER FROM EVERYONE AT HILL HOUSE
