Hill House residents had an exciting and vibrant week during the flower show festivities. They prepared for the showcase of their floral arrangement talents while savouring afternoon tea with friends. The remaining days were packed with fun games, music, and various engaging activities both indoors and outdoors.

On a sunny Monday morning, we came together and savoured the company of one another, engaging in meaningful conversations.

In addition, we participated in enjoyable puzzle games and word searches with a floral theme, challenging our cognitive abilities and imaginative thinking.

In anticipation of the upcoming annual Hill House Flower Show, we dedicated our afternoon to crafting exquisite artificial floral arrangements. Employing a combination of vases, baskets, and pots, we skilfully created vibrant displays that are sure to captivate.

We have spent time basking in the sun, socializing, and indulging in tea and cakes in the garden of our garden view courtyard. It has been a delightful way to pass the day.

We started our Tuesday morning by engaging in a flower picture quiz, which prompted conversations about our gardens and the flowers we hold dear.

With utmost care and devotion, our garden view lounge became the creative hub for our stunning fresh flower displays, infusing the entire space with an enchanting floral scent.

The flower show theme sparked our creativity as we explored our home, finding inspiration in every corner. We took the time to unwind and express ourselves through colouring and painting beautiful floral-inspired pictures, all while enjoying our personalized music playlists.

The group physiotherapy session we had every week was held around a long table, providing a fun and creative environment for all of us to exercise together.

The Dementia Choir met at Farnham Mill, bringing together residents from all 4 homes under Woodlands & Hill Brow Ltd. These remarkable individuals have developed close relationships and use music, including their favourite hymns and songs, to connect.

The choir session now always ends with a lively dance, as well as refreshments, providing an opportunity for these friends to reconnect and socialise.

Our trip to Squires Garden Centre on Wednesday morning was fantastic. Before diving into our seed-shopping spree, we enjoyed a pleasant coffee break and a lovely chat.

At Hill House, we completed the final preparations for the Hill House flower show. We carefully potted up beautiful garden plants and arranged them in a delightful assortment of tubs, trunks, and pots, blending different colours and textures to create a stunning display.

The Hill House flower show was a truly enchanting afternoon, filled with a mesmerizing display of both artificial and fresh flowers, as well as exquisite garden planters. We came together to savour a delightful afternoon tea, discovered the fascinating history of the Chelsea Flower Show, and explored the breath-taking flower exhibition before the judging commenced.

Shabana, our dedicated Home Manager, took the judging task very seriously and found it quite difficult to select a winner. However, we are incredibly proud of all the participants and want to extend our warmest congratulations to the deserving winners.

Garden view lounge came together in the kitchen on Thursday morning for a fun ‘Chef it up’ session. We worked together to choose a menu, expertly chopped, and diced the ingredients, and cooked a delicious meal from start to finish.

In addition to preparing the food, we also arranged the table, tidied up, and joyfully welcomed friends to enjoy the delicious broccoli pasta.

Jax and Lynn added a burst of energy to the gathering with their amazing saxophone playing and captivating vocals, prompting everyone to hit the dance floor and groove to the music. The atmosphere was simply fantastic, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.

The cooking club on Friday showcased our expertise in preparing vegetables for a mouth-watering leek and potato soup. With everyone gathered around, we cooked the vegetables, stock, and other ingredients, creating a captivating spectacle as the delightful aroma of soup filled the entire home.

Our creative juices flowed as we crafted paper plate flowers, meticulously cutting out petal shapes and adorning them with vibrant, cheerful hues. The end result was a collection of colourful masterpieces that brought joy and beauty to our home.

We took on an exciting challenge with our mind-boggling word games, diving into a captivating whiteboard game called “Word Finisher.” Drawing inspiration from the Chelsea Flower show, we embarked on a mission to create as many words as possible using the given letters.

Before lunch, the Home Manager took the time to connect with the residents in the lounge, ensuring their needs were met and providing a friendly atmosphere for everyone.

Our gardeners were full of excitement as they planted a diverse selection of vegetable and herb seeds in the raised planter beds, creating a delightful afternoon under the warm sun.

The day at garden view was bustling with a range of activities. We kicked off the morning with word games to stimulate our brains. Later, Tinkerbell, our therapy dog, paid us a visit, spreading joy all around. Storytelling sessions gave residents a chance to unleash their creativity. We had a blast playing snakes and ladders, dominos, and tackling a huge jigsaw puzzle, igniting our friendly competitive spirits.

Saturday morning brought a vibrant atmosphere to our garden view lounges, as they were abuzz with a multitude of delightful activities. As laughter and the sound of knitting needles filled the air, our lively knit-and-natter group gathered, while others immersed themselves in engaging puzzles and memory games.

Additionally, our avid gardeners were given the opportunity to sow the seeds of beauty by planting exquisite flowers in the garden pots.

We absolutely adore Saturday mornings spent tackling the enormous crossword puzzles, finding joy in deciphering the cryptic clues as a team to conquer the colossal crossword board.

As we were engrossed in the FA Cup final on TV, our fantastic activity coordinator went around with the ‘FA Cup bar’, offering us lagers, gin & tonics, and fruity cocktails. The lounge echoed with cheers as Manchester United scored first!
