On Monday morning, we tested our tastebuds with a cheese tasting class. Julie offered us samples of a variety of cheeses, and we had to guess what they were, based on taste alone. Once we had made our guess, Julie told us interesting facts about the cheese we had tasted. It was very interesting and fun to try so many different cheeses!

In the afternoon, those of us in the garden view lounge did some cooking. We baked chocolate chip scones, which came out smelling delicious.

Later in the afternoon, we had a tea party in the main lounge where we ate the delicious scones that had been baked just an hour prior.

On Tuesday morning, some of us went tenpin bowling in Camberley. We practised our bowling skills in a tense competition between us and the residents from Hill Brow next door. It was exhilarating! We had a cup of tea before making it back just in time for lunch.

Meanwhile, our friends back home were playing “Wheel of Fortune”. They had great fun competing for prizes and spinning the wheel.

In the afternoon, some of us boarded the minibus to Woodlands in order to participate in Dementia Choir. It felt amazing to sing along and dance to all the usual tunes.

Meanwhile, back at Hill House, we were doing group physiotherapy. This session was more musical than most, with many exercises being performed to the beat of the music.

On Wednesday, we celebrated the 90th birthday of one of our treasured volunteers. We had an enormous tea party with a buffet of sandwiches, scones, wine and hot drinks. The piano player was brilliant, and we really enjoyed hearing him sing happy birthday and other festive songs.

On Thursday morning, we did some flower arranging with Louise. We always love this activity. The colours and textures of all the beautiful flowers are a delight to behold.

In the afternoon, we all came together to see this week’s entertainment. Natasha provided some lively music, which we sang and danced to. Her colourful outfit and careful song choice really caught our attention.

On Friday morning, those of us in the garden view lounge played a word scramble. In this game, we sorted the giant letters on the table into complete words.

In the main lounge, we spent the morning doing a picture quiz. We had to correctly guess who was in the picture in order to score points. It was tricky at times, but we worked together to complete it.

In the afternoon, we wished a “Happy Birthday” to one of our residents.

Later, we played giant snakes and ladders. The big foam dice were fun to throw around, and the game drew out our competitive spirit.

Saturday morning in the garden view lounge was all about sports. We played balloon tennis and skittles together. It felt great to get our bodies moving.

Meanwhile, in the main lounge, we played some collaborative whiteboard games. Our favourite is A-Z, but this time we challenged ourselves with a restrictive theme: TV Shows. This meant we had to come up with a TV show for each letter of the alphabet. It was tough at times, but before we knew it the alphabet was complete.

In the afternoon, we were treated to a visit from Tinkerbell. This is always a highlight, as we love to give her cuddles and lots of treats!

On Sunday, many of us spent the morning attending our virtual church service, which is live streamed form a local congregation.

In the garden view lounge, however, a dementia friendly church service was taking place. This service was filled to the brim with music, dancing, and singing.
