Oktoberfest week was packed full of autumnal and German themed activities. On Monday morning in the main lounge, we worked as a team to complete a giant crossword.

Meanwhile in the garden view lounge, some of us were doing some Oktoberfest-themed water colouring.

Others were getting active with a game of balloon tennis.

In the afternoon, we had a special tea party to celebrate the birthday of one of our residents.

On Tuesday morning, we played a game of Oktoberfest-themed bingo. Having a theme really helps to freshen up an old classic.

In the afternoon, we did group physical therapy. We used colourful props and music to get us into the spirit of things.

On Wednesday morning, we did an A-Z quiz. This week the theme was ‘Autumn’, so we had to come up with a word for each letter of the alphabet that was related to Autumn.

Meanwhile in the garden view lounge, we got on with some flower arranging. It was fun to make bespoke decorations for our living space.

In the afternoon, we did some figurative gingerbread decorating. We painted pictures of various gingerbread structures using watercolour.

Meanwhile, one of our residents celebrated their wedding anniversary with a lovely tea party.

On Thursday morning, we did some flower arranging with Louise to help us select and prepare the individual flowers. We love this tactile, creative activity, and it’s wonderful to make something that will be used to decorate our living space.

In the afternoon, a live singer came in to perform for us. He was very lively, and the atmosphere was amazing. It was great fun to get together for an event like this.

On Friday, a number of us went down to the Prince of Wales pub for a hearty lunch and cold pint. We enjoyed our meals greatly and appreciated the opportunity to revisit happy memories of pub outings.

In the afternoon, everybody came together to celebrate Oktoberfest at our very own Beer Festival. We took part in a diverse beer tasting activity, and enjoyed some delicious chocolate coated soft pretzels!

On Saturday morning in the garden view lounge, we played a competitive game of Skittles.

Meanwhile, in the main lounge, we were testing out knowledge with a challenging group crossword.

In the afternoon, an entertainer came and performed for us. We danced the afternoon away to some upbeat music and sang our hearts out to some old classics.

On Sunday morning in the garden view lounge, we came together for a dementia-friendly church service. These services focus on the musical forms of worship, interspersed with short readings from carers and volunteers.

In the afternoon, some of us in the main lounge got together for our regular knit and Natter club. We love knitting and crocheting, and it’s great fun to do it together.
